Yesterday I logged into freepbx (AsteriskNow distro) and I noticed that there are two available updates. Without worrying - (I've done this many times) - I applied the updates (basic repo). - With the commercially supported Sangoma PBX End Point Manager (EPM), you can use the GUI interface to directly auto-provision and configure popular desk phones, wireless phones, door phones, overhead paging devices, gateways, and specialty devices from the following manufacturers: Please note we do not support 'Device and User mode' in FreePBX.
- OSS PBX End Point Manager is the free supported PBX Endpoint Manager for FreePBX. It is.NOT. supported by Sangoma. If you are looking for a supported endpoint manager please look into the Commercial Endpoint Manager by Sangoma Technologies, Inc.
It has replaced PBX Endpoint Manager with OSS Endpoint Manager, and now I can't run endpoint manager any more because 'PHP Version MUST be greater than 5.3.0!'
When I tested on another machine, as soon as you hit 'check online' - the module PBX Endpoint Manager gets renamed to OSS Endpoint manager.
Of course I can't get PHP 5.3 with yum update since it's not part of CentOS 5...
If I manually install PHP 5.3, then I'm not 'standard' Centos, and I'll be doing manual updates on it forever... But if I manually install PHP 5.3 - will OSS Endpoint Manager work as satisfactorily as before this 'mess'?
For me this happened on my new install - new server, and I hate to get into manual patching already(!)
PBX Endpoint Manager (beta) is now a $25 licensed module (As of Jan23,2013).
Wish there had been some sort of sanity checking or warning... 'If you do this update you'll be SOL...'

Now I'm not even sure how to 'go back' because if I reinstall the adteriskNow distro, I still need to install updates to get back where I was yesterday (!@)
